TROOP 382 COMMUNICATOR
Parents Meeting
1st Tuesday of every mont
It has already been a packed fall season with many activities the troop has participated
in. We started with Heritage Days, then to Cider Fest, and then to the wheelchair ramp. It
has been an event filled two months. Building the ramp was one of the most rewarding
projects I’ve been associated with. This is the type of thing that all scout troops should be
involved with.
This project has brought a lot of positive attention not only to the troop but all of scouting.
The amount of press between this project and Alan Smith’s eagle project couldn’t have
been have come at a better time. I want to add a little more information to the story. I
received a little note on my desk at work one day last week. It was a thank you note from
Denise’s father who happens to be a third shift security office at Sterling.
This weekend, we will conduct our annual Iron Chef competition with a family dinner at 6:
00 PM at the VFW. We ask each family to bring a covered dish to share and the boys will
provide the main dishes. On Saturday we will also be doing our next adopt-a-highway
clean up at 9:00 AM. The boys who are too young to do the clean up, will be preparing
lunch for the rest of the group. This will require some extra adult supervision for the day.
We have been asked by the Copley police department to help with the community
Halloween program at the Copley Community Park on Saturday October 25th. I don’t have
the details yet, but I’m sure the publicity had something to do with it. I think given the
situation with the township purchasing the property, working with the police and the
township can’t hurt.
Then there is the Old Portage Klondike that we have been asked to run this January. We
will be asking some of our eagle scouts to return and help run the Klondike.
Scoutmasters Minute:
The principal foundation of scouting is about helping others. We have experienced this
first hand over the past few weeks. This is what it is all about and we need to continue the
trend. Helping others is what our troop is built on.
